Issue Description:
#271 uncovered a failure in test_xpath. This needs to be investigated to figure out if this is a regression from the compiler/stdlib or was an existing issue that now reproduces reliably, or is a flaw introduced by the migrator.
Steps to reproduce:
apply that PR if not yet merged
re-enable test_xpath
build the test product
launch with lldb attached
