Search dialogue remains at "Initializing search"

Description

On mobile, search doesn't print "Type to start searching" when the search index is built:

Expected behavior

"Type to start searching" is printed.

Actual behavior

"Initializing search" remains.

Steps to reproduce the bug

1. Open search on mobile
