Dotty frontpage is slow to load

It takes 3 seconds to open http://dotty.epfl.ch/ on a cold cache, including downloading 2MB of data.
It downloads 8 fonts(do we use all of them?)
Photos have different scaling, some photos are good and take 20Kb, while two other photos take >0.5 MB each.
