My requirement is to filter rows (display only rows) that are selected.

Describe the solution you'd like
Right now the filters can be attached to any custom column but not to the selection column.

Describe alternatives you've considered
Filter the dataset myself and feed to the table the new dataset but is is problematic if we want to use that filter together with the filters provided by the library.

Additional context
Not sure what to show here, is just a missing feature.

Another alternative that I found:

add a dummy empty column just for this purpose. Attach a custom filter on that column and in the onFilter add the logic to return only the selected rows.

This works but I find it a bit hacky (I would always need an extra special column + custom filter)

I think there're couple ways to achieve it
Your workaround is great. My opinion is maybe you can consider to custom the selection header

1. add a custom component in selection header
2. when user trigger filter action, don't use custom filter function, you can just filter selected row and render table again with new data by setState or other ways.

I will consider to put the filter into selection header and implement the logic for this requirement. but it's low priority for me.

I think our project would also benefit from the similar feature (it might not be exactly the same, but it is related to both selection and filtering).
We are using the filter placement in the separate row and we are using the selection column as well. As a result, we end-up having an empty sell and it looks like there is no way to use it, while it looks like a great place to put some control elements to apply actions to selected rows. In particular, I want to put an action dropdown there to e.g. delete all selected rows and etc.

What I basically need is the ability to place a custom react component in this cell. Do you have any workaround in mind? It looks like it just creates an empty component currently. Btw, there is a little defect is that it creates td instead of th, but it does not affect the appearance:

I am happy to try to raise a PR on it, however, I am not sure about the best way to implement the same. I think having something like filterRenderer field for the row selection props, but it is not exactly clear how would it work by if e.g. filter row is not used and what exactly would it filter. Any thoughts?
