the last update in that repo is 1 year ago and it seems dead.

Can you please give a short description about the current project status in your README.md and if you are aware of a fork that is in activate development or an alternative package.

As you can see here for an example there is a high need to give a short description about the project status in your README.md.

This prevent user expecting to much. you can also answer those comments via just linking to the part of your README.md.

Here you see an example of such a status description.
