plotlywidget 4.6.0 fails to render Figure in Jupyterlab 1.x

I have almost the same versions as the ones seen in this comment, but I only see a white rectangle:

The Jupyterlab ecosystem is moving so fast it's sometimes difficult to catch up 😓 Any idea why this might be not working?

Doing the same in Jupyterlab 2 seems to work though. I guess I will just upgrade? 😅

JupyterLab 3.x is almost out there, so I don't care about JupyterLab 1.x anymore, and probably few other people do. Closing!
