Pandas version checks

  • I have checked that this issue has not already been reported.

  • I have confirmed this bug exists on the latest version of pandas.

  • I have confirmed this bug exists on the main branch of pandas.

Reproducible Example

import pandas as pd
pd.Series([1]).clip(3, axis=1)

Issue Description

Series.clip takes an axis argument documented here, but there's only one axis for a Series and passing axis=1 always gives ValueError: No axis named 1 for object type Series.

Expected Behavior

axis should be an invalid argument to Series.clip.
