I've installed the dependencies as well as Cython and am getting a failing test on Ubuntu 10.04:

FAIL: test_with_tzinfo_ambiguous_times (pandas.tests.test_daterange.TestDateRange)

You installed pytz using apt-get I assume? I think the version there is stale. Try using the latest version from PyPI

That was the problem. I installed PyTz from source (pypi) and the test pases now.
