The Open Modeling Foundation Members Council represents formally constituted (having some form of governance document) organizations composed

For clarity and flow, I suggest moving the "(having some form of governance document)" bit elsewhere. As an example (and only an example):

"The Open Modeling Foundation Members Council represents formally constituted organizations composed of or representing an active community of modelers in the social and natural sciences. Formally constituted organizations have a governance structure documented in some form. Examples include scientific networks, professional societies, ..."

Indeed, a sentence is probably better than a parenthetical comment
