Opening directory with `.` not working as expected

Describe the bug
When opening neovim with nvim . a blank buffer is opened with the name of .

To Reproduce
nvim .

Expected behavior
Before this commit (d8bf1adcdcc6a8a66c3dce5c29a4ef06e21dc844) neovim would open with nvim-tree and no buffer

Same issue here, directory hijack does not work anymore with the latest master of nvim-tree.lua. It just opens a file with the same name instead of opening that directory.

Try to run nvim ., I don't have so much config.

I am loading the plugin with vim-plug, and sourcing the following lua file:

require("nvim-tree").setup({
  actions = { open_file = { quit_on_open = true } },
  git = { ignore = false },
})

But also with clean config I have the same problem:

require("nvim-tree").setup()

There are 2 issues (which i found) with this 'fix':

1:

It opens nvim-tree in a new unnamed buffer but in this fix, when you open a file from the tree it opens the file in a new buffer (leafing the old buffer open)

When in the old version it would open the file in the "same window" (split buffer), like this:

For ~150ms on start it still opens the folder in a buffer and then opens nvim-tree

Which is kinda annoying bc im used to "instantly" navigate when opening nvim-tree

yes i know, there are so many different ways to open the tree during startup that i had to make fake patches that are not really perfect. I'm currently doing refactorings to make it easier to reimplement the startup and the buffer management to take into account every possible things without scheduling the startup (which is a hack to avoid loading faster than the session which causes errors).
Please be patient, although i cannot reproduce your issue here.
