Does alias length default limit at 10 characters create issues? If none are reported, I would rather fix that for 5.1. It may cause regression, especially since which max length should be specified is not obvious, reading the related issues. It seems it was required to trim it down for accounting NHibernate suffixes length, but current implementation may not need that actually.

Yes, it does. Some are reported only on the mailing list.

The main difficulty is to find what was the limit for oldest dialects. Their documentation is frequently no more available.
