Cannot setup SSL connection to elasticsearch

There are several elasticsearch configuration options for the setup:install command (see here), but there is none to specify the usage of ssl.
If elasticsearch is only available via https, this will end in a Could not validate a connection to Elasticsearch. null error.

Something like bin/magento setup:install ... --elasticsearch-use-ssl=1 would be great.
