Not sure how often we'll need this, since serverless clients will be doing semver that doesn't track ES stack versioning, but can't hurt to have it if we need it. |

Thanks for the hint. I really hesitated a lot: merging brings this client closer to elasticsearch-py, but you're right that we won't need it. Still merging as you approved. |

As done in elastic/elasticsearch-dsl-py#1674 and tested in elastic/elasticsearch-dsl-py#1676 (I had to add an empty commit to run GitHub Actions CI, but the problem already exists today).
