Profile File Writers

The credential file parsing is currently public, as well as the writer. The location of these files is marked as internal though. We should look into making the parser able to write updated credentials back to the file.

To be clear, this is for profile file creation and editing (~/.aws/config, ~/.aws/credentials, etc.)?

Correct, ProfilesConfigFileWriter.java in v1

It takes a File, but there is no way to know what to pass there since the locators (AwsProfileFileLocationProvider) are all:

1. Marked as internal
2. Return null if file does not exist meaning if the file does not exist yet, there is no way to know where it should go

This is a very old issue that is probably not getting as much attention as it deserves. We encourage you to check if this is still an issue in the latest release and if you find that this is still a problem, please feel free to provide a comment or open a new issue.
