improvement suggestion: bookmarking positions in code to easily return to that location

a suggestion for the Arduino IDE development team:

implement a key shortcut to bookmark the location in the code a user is currently working at and another to display a drop down list showing saved location-bookmarks so that user can return to that position in the code.

there's a stub implementation of bookmarks in Beta build (commit here c8a255c ), may you give it a spin and report if there's any bug to speedup merging in master?

Hi @facchinm, is it compiled so I can clone/install/download and run it on my Linux Mint and would you be so kind to guide me as I'm a noob with github. Not with programming in the Arduino IDE :)

@maicod no need to compile it 🙂
Just grab the binaries from https://www.arduino.cc/en/Main/Software#beta and extract it sideways the normal IDE.
Once done, you can scroll between bookmarks with F3 😉

@facchinm it works awesome. I know this is a beta but I noticed that there was no warning when enabling the bookmarks feature that the GUI needs to be closed and reopened. Maybe a tip :) Also I would envision besides the current bookmark function a way a user could add bookmarks he/she then names and then from a dropdown list/sidewindow he/she can select the right bookmark.

Dear @facchinm you helped me with my feature request by pointing me at a beta that had the feature incorporated but now 1.8.12 of the IDE is out with speedier compile/upload speed. Do you think there is a new 'nightly build' of that version containing the bookmark function ? if not maybe you could compile it ? Thanks a lot in advance !

@maicod latest beta (build 117) has been rebased on 1.8.12, so all the builder stuff is fixed AND there are bookmarks too 🙂
