IDE: Copy for Forum

Menu item "Copy for Forum" supplies QUOTE TAGS bracketing the code. It should bracket the code with CODE TAGS.

@cmaglie I see we use quote instead of code to preserve the colouring of the code. Shouldn't we just wrap the bare code?

I guess this is a matter of taste, we should decide which one we prefer. The "copy for forum" AFAIR was always with color coding, and I like it, but also monospace font is nice. Another option could be to use "tt" (teletype) instead of "quote", in this case we have both color and monospace font but we lose the quote box so neither this one fully satisfies me.

The code box is a fixed height, with scroll bars, conserving 'vertical real estate'.

quote and color hint are very good for readability, the only drawback i see is the post lenght.

Folks who help the most on the forum (at least the Programming Help forum) are constantly asking posters to use code tags instead of quote tags. Another advantage is that quote tags cause things like
for(;;)
to show up as
for (;<smiley face picture

Oh, and as far as readability, I find proportional spacing and italics VERY poor for reading a program. I suppose it really doesn't matter in the IDE. Those who help out on the forum can just keep telling the posters to use CODE tags instead.

Oh I see, the emoticons are very ugly indeed, and also the space wasted is not the best.
I guess we must change it to use the "code" tag and remove the color-coding.

Hello,

I support the use of "code" tag for the "copy for forum"
But - if I may - I would also suggest an upgrade of the forum to render
"code" with colour syntaxing.
Some coding forums have such feature.

Migrate the Arduino Forum platform - preserving existing contents - would be a massive pain; just an upgrade of the existing one has been already tried and failed.
