Touch pad two finger scrolling in menu almost impossible

OS: Ubuntu 20.04 (also on 18.04)
Arduino IDE 1.8.12 (also previous versions)
Touch pad with Synaptics driver

When a long list of boards have been installed, the Tools => Board menu becomes very long and scrollable. When using a touch pad with two finger scrolling, it is very difficult to scroll through this list as the start-of-scroll is detected as a tap. After this invalid tap the incorrect board is selected and the menu is closed. One then needs to open the menu again and try scrolling again and hopefully not trigger a tap.

If one disables two finger scrolling and change to right edge scrolling on the touch pad, these invalid left-click taps are much less common.
