Arduino IDE 1.5.7 no longer contains makefile in windows zip

Hey ,
First I want to say I love this plugin and use it a lot. Lately I've installed a setup on my other PC, wanting to give V2.2 a try, and ran into some problems.
Using Eclipse Luna, Plugin version 2.2.0.1, when I create a new project the build doesn't work .
I get the following :
Cannot run program "make": Launching failed

Also , when I create a new project, the MCU project is not created as it should be .
I'm used to working with V1 + kepler + arduino IDE 1.0.5 on my other PC and there everything works fine.
I tried re=installing the plugin and IDE with no luck.
On this PC I'm using Luna , IDE 1.5.7 and V2.2 . Is there a competebility issue here?

Thanks for your input. V2 is majorly different from V1. So projects are not compatible.

I just verified the package and it looks like make is no longer delivered with arduino :-(
The folder C:/Arduino/hardware/tools/avr/utils/bin simply no longer exists in 1.5.7. 1.5.6-R2 still has it.

So as I understand - this means I can't use IDE 1.5.7 at all at this point?

you can copy the C:/Arduino/hardware/tools/avr/utils/bin folder from an older arduino folder.
Or use 1.5.6.
Or install make from somewhere else.
I'll need some time to come up with a good solution.

No improvement with Arduino IDE 1.5.8: still the same missing make and apparently in combination with Luna 64bit the workaround you suggested doesn't work either: reverting to Arduino IDE 1.5.5 with Luna 64bit and Arduino Eclipse Plugin 2.2

I see no reason why arduino will add makefile again. So i assume i will be off forever.
I also see no reason why the workaround should not work in 1.5.8. What are the symptoms you are seeing?

can you check whether you find anything in the windows event logger?
A google search leads me to the following quote

This error is caused, if cl.exe is started on command line or from within a build script and can't find its needed mspdb80.dll in the path.

I didn't find anything valuable in the Windows Event Logger, but please note I'm not a great Windows user so I'm not sure I've extensively searched every corner I should have...
Please also note that just by switching back to 1.5.5 within the same Eclipse even without restarting does resolve the issue: it is definitely a consequence of the applied workaround... may be some missing dependency in the copy operation?

BTW, I can't find any cl.exe in the Arduino IDE dir structure...

I found that the arduino folder must be part of the path in windows since Arduino IDE 1.5.8 (cygwin.dll is there)
Workaround->add the arduino folder to you system path.
I'll try to fix this before the build tonight.

Yes; I foregot to update it. I don't feel like finding that version again build and fidle to get it on the update site.

I confirm the latest nightly build does work nicely, though it's console output is quite verbose, mostly complaining about MSDOS paths 😄

I didn't had the opportunity to test the newer versions (I thought the update site was being updated...) and I have to compliment the team for the new icons (much nicer)!

I wouldn't expect to have old versions put onto the update site, but it's my preference to use that rather than downloading 160MB each time I update... Please...... 😄

V1 is dead (no more updates) V2 has the official update site and the nightly update site. The nightly update site should work with the product. In other words you should be able to update the product with the nightly update site.

As to the test: Have you also tried a upload. I ask as someone reports it as not working.
